Studied Modern Classical Avant Garde Composition
at Sunderland University under David Pinder. Also studied printmaking
under Dave Gormley.
Worked with friends (Ian McCutcheon and Partick Brophy)making eclectic
music focused around the tecchniques pioneered by the German groups such
as Can and Faust.
Co-Founded the influential music collective Zoviet France in
1979 and went on to produce and perform in most of their early, highly
regarded, works . Stayed with ZF for 12 years and left in 1992 to work
on my own as Rapoon and collaborate with others.
Concurrently I worked at Newcastle's Chalotte Press
Print Workshop.(1977-1994) I taught print workshops in Etching and Lithography
as well as doing my own work. Here most of the early Zf covers were
concieved
and printed.
Also concurrently I began to work in the Audio Visual industry
(1979-1994) both full time and freelance. Here I learned video editing and rostrum
camera work as well as other graphic techniques and staging and lighting.
Returned to Higher Level Education in 2002 to study Creative
Music Technology at Newcastle University.
I wanted to gain a formal qualification in music for my own satisfaction
and for the challenge of it.
Taught undergradutes and post graduates modern composition techniques using
recording and sequencing software.
Studied under Dr. Jonny Clark and Dr.Matt Sansom.
Am saving up to do a Ph D.
