Vivo records : 2008
This album is about yearning. That aching emptiness
that still exists when all rational processes have
been exhausted.
The unobtainable,
All consuming and immaterial.
The irrelevant and the irrational.
The dark torments and the light hearted banter.
The victories and the defeats
The achievements and the failures
The loves and the losses,
When all are accounted for there remains only
The obscure objects of desire.

Robin storey 2008

Robin Storey was born in 1955 in Cumbria England, while studying fine arts at Sunderland university
he began a pursuing a long-held interest in sound manipulations by taking classes in electronic experimental
compositions, all these experimentations ended in Rapoon, a personal structure which became a reality in his
existence. And now with more than 40 albums, becomes one of the more active acts in post –industrial experimental
scène. Also his skills as painter reflected in this album. “obscure objects of desire” the musical & visual side c
onverging themselves to create an interesting musical piece. 7 compositions all of them present us just a part of the
whole potential developed by Mr Storey

Through “obscure objects of desire the living totems from subconscious are brought to live under a vast drone
atmospheres with textures of diverse sources and soundscapes which penetrates slowly the analog and
digital electronic elements used here. The first two tracks “touch dismissed” and “coffee and smoke” are more
harsh drone experiments which have a palpable strong sound in the way as they are built. Next two ones
“the emptiness of institutions” and “as close as possible” are both more ambient but the second one goes more
into experimental touch with some acoustic sounds and dark ambient soundscapes, which seems to collapse all
the time, and show us in perfection the dynamism and creativity in which Mr. Storey walks. Still you can hear some
drone structures in the whole track. Within the 5th composition “program memory” the subliminal sound sources
are evoked to experience a quantity of elements which together seems to send you some cipher information due
the way as the music is planted in your brain.

“post mystic” is another track, this time more raw and structured drone- industrial one with such abrasive and
mutating electronic sounds and voices which are a perfect way to explore your subconscious to find such obscure
objects of desire latent in human mind. Closing the release is “the emptiness of art (I made that one that)
” to complement the album. In perspective this album is very interesting, with so many eclectic elements which
surely you will find more than suggestive both in musical side such as visual. “Obscure objects of desire” comes
in a white digipack with some drawings painted by Robin himself. .
